New Restrictions Wildlights 2020 cancelled For the first time in 22 years, Wildlights has been cancelled. Our teams worked incredibly hard to have over 800,000 lights set up, just in case restrictions were lifted and we were granted permission to move forward. On Monday, December 7th, it was announced that the restrictions would carry over into the New Year, and with that, comes the cancellation of Wildlights 2020. So, as we all have done throughout 2020, we pivot. Virtual Tour wildlights goes virtual! We've worked with Aspect Filmworks to bring a virtual Wildlights experience for you to enjoy at home with your family. We know it isn't the same as viewing the lights in person, but this is a fantastic way for you to still support the BC Wildlife Park throughout this holiday season. Why Wildlights Why Wildlights? Wildlights started 23 years ago as a way to generate revenue during the quiet winter months. Over the years, Wildlights has become an iconic holiday event in the City of Kamloops. Today, Wildlights has become a holiday tradition for thousands of people and generates enough income to support the Park through the winter. With the cancellation of Wildlights, the BCWP will lose more than $250,000.00 in revenue. The revenue normally generated during Wildlights provides the required funds to cover our average monthly grocery bill of $10,000.00, and care for the nearly 200 permanent residents, the Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Centre patients, and care for the owls in our breeding program. What to Expect what to expect Get cozy, because we're going to take you on an enchanting tour. Take in over 800,000 lights, hop aboard a virtual train ride, laugh with Uncle Chris the Clown, get up close with Thunder the elk and the animals at the Home Hardware Family Farm, check out a variety of animal encounters, and get a behind the scene look into how Wildlights is set up! For a minimum donation of $5.00, enjoy the Virtual Wildlights tour from the comfort of your home. You'll receive an income tax receipt for your donation. Donate now to access Wildlights Goes Virtual!
