For persons with disabilities, the BC Wildlife Park allows the admittance of certified guide and service dogs. Please visit the British Columbia’s Rights of Certified Dog & Handler Teams for more information.
Service animals must remain on a leash or a harness and be under control by its handler at all times. Please clean up after your dog.
For the health and safety of our guests and wildlife, therapy and emotional support animals, including dogs, are not eligible for admittance as they are not eligible for certification as per the Government of British Columbia.
We offer complimentary, designated parking for persons with disabilities near the entrance of the Discovery Centre. Our parking lot is paved and parking spaces for persons with disabilities are clearly marked both painted on the ground, as well as with physical signage.
The Discovery Centre entrance is flat with a push-button swing open style door. Our Guest Services desk has an area designated for those guests who require a roll up option.
The spray park and playground have a fairly steep paved incline to the entrance of the area. Once inside there is a flat, paved picnic area with various picnic tables.
Our amphitheatre lower level is accessible via paved ramp, or, guests can stay on the top, ground level, on a paved surface as well.
The Wildlife Express Miniature Train , has one wheelchair accessible space. Please note there is a paved ramp leading up to the train station, where guests purchase tickets and load the train.
Our lower pathways have all been paved, and the upper pathways past the playground are crushed gravel. Please note that in some sections there is a slight incline. Animal habitats are wheelchair accessible by either a ramp, or are on a flat surface.
For those guests whom would have a more enjoyable visit with the ability to borrow a wheelchair, we do have a limited number of wheelchairs available at our Guest Services desk. Wheelchairs are available on a first come, first serve basis, and cannot be reserved.
We are members of the Access 2 Card program and do require proof of access card upon arrival. Persons with disabilities that are cardholders pay the regular park admissions fees, and their caregivers are provided complimentary admission.
All of our washrooms (Discovery Centre, Playground, and Mid-Park washroom), contain one accessibility stall with an outward swinging door, raised toilet, and grip bars. In addition, we have one accessible family washroom in our gift shop.
