Sensory Friendly Experience

April 21, 2025

We're proud to once again offer our Sensory Friendly Easter Eggcitment experience at the BC Wildlife Park, in partnership with the Canucks Autism Network. Join us on Monday, April 21 from 9:00am to 12:00pm for a quieter, more inclusive celebration designed for guests who may benefit from a sensory-sensitive environment.

During this time, no music will be played, Uncle Chris the Clown will remain stationary on the Great Lawn, and a designated quiet space will be available for anyone needing a break from the excitement.

Trained staff from the Canucks Autism Network will be on-site to provide support, and sensory kits will be available to borrow from Guest Services.

Find the Golden Egg!

Each day, one golden egg will be hidden somewhere in a public area of the Park. If you're the lucky one to find it, you’ll receive complimentary admission and a private animal encounter for 4 people!

To claim your prize, simply bring the egg to Guest Services and exchange it for a gift certificate.

Only one egg is hidden per day, and it will always be placed in areas open to the public—so no need to venture into restricted zones!

Happy hunting and good luck!

Fundraiser for Zeppelin's Cataract Surgery

On Dec 14, an eagle was found on the roadside in Armstrong and rushed to the Fawcett Family Wildlife Health Center. Blood tests revealed severe lead poisoning, a condition often seen in raptors that feed on carcasses or gut piles left by hunters using lead ammunition, or from swallowing fishing tackle containing lead.

Treatment started Dec 15 with chelation therapy, which binds to lead in the bloodstream, helping the body remove it. The eagle went through three full rounds of treatment — five days on, three days off — and by Jan 10, bloodwork showed its lead levels had dropped to a subclinical (non-lethal) range. It is rare for eagles in our care to survive lead poisoning; however; the damage caused by the lead was irreversible. The eagle developed cataracts in both eyes, meaning it is no longer capable of surviving in the wild. Instead, it will remain in human care as an educational ambassador, helping to inform the public about the impact of lead exposure on wildlife.

Okanagan Animal Eye Care has generously offered to perform the double cataract surgery, but we urgently need to raise $3,500 to make this possible. Every donation counts, and we’re grateful for your support!
