Resident animal art exhibit

Painting is great for sensory and cognitive enrichment for many of the Park animals, should they wish to participate. Feeling paint on their paws is great for the sensory portion of the enrichment, and seeing the different colours and formations can be visually enriching for some of the animals.

A sealed animal art auction will run 9:30am April 2 - 4:00pm April 30, with all proceeds going towards a hoofstock quarantine building. You can view the animal art inside the Theatre Room in the Discovery Centre. The highest bidder on each individual painting will receive the painting, a colour photo of the animal, and two complimentary general admission passes to the Park.

To place your bid, you can visit us in person, or alternatively call our Guest Services team at 250-573-3242 ext. 0, or email Julie@bcwildlife.org to place your bid if you are unable to visit in person. Shipping is available at the successful bidder's expense.

Note: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a tax receipt for the highest bidder on the art pieces. We apologize for the inconvenience.

black stallion steals a mare

In a hidden canyon in British Columbia’s Southern Interior, a ponderosa pine tree sprouts. Seasons pass as the tree grows, witness to generations of human history in the Okanagan Valley, from First Nations quests to fur brigades, horse wrangling, secret wartime commando training, to the firestorm of 2003. Richly illuminated by maps, illustrations, and historical images and informed by a timeline and historical notes, this fascinating book weaves First Nations history with European settlement and natural history.

Copies of the book can by purchased at Kamloops Wildlife Park and from Crwth Press.
